Johny Fritz was born on 14th December 1944 in Aspelt (Luxembourg). He studied music at the conservatories of Luxembourg, Brussels and Nancy (clarinet, chamber music, history and analysis, composition and conducting)
Professor at the Conservatory of Luxembourg for clarinet, treble recorder and chamber music (until his retirement in 2005).
Founder and director of the Ensemble of Ancient Music “Tempus iocundum” (music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance) in 1976.
Founding member of the Luxembourg Society for Contemporary Music.
From 1982, active and permanent correspondent to the “Erik Satie Foundation” in Paris.
Johny Fritz has been composing from 1967. His work is very diverse, it includes instrumental and symphonic music, chamber music and choral music.
