Schöpfungen by Georges Urwald

In 2007, Sibiu (Rumania) and Luxembourg with its Greater Region were the European Capitals of Culture. In this context, the Luxembourg jazz group Garlicks was approached by the cultural commissioner of Saarburg to conceive a major composition around the theme of creation, which was to be performed in the church in Saarburg. Poems by well-known German authors on the elements of creation air, water, fire and earth were selected, and thus a work entitled Schöpfungen was created and performed with great success in the church in Saarburg in 2007 with a jazz trio, 4 classical guest musicians, 2 dancers, image projections and a large light show.  This is a symphonic version of a Luxembourgish composer who enjoys blending styles beyond certain stylistic boundaries with considerable success. LMP is proud to present this composer and hopes that other works will follow.
